Pine Biotech Team is growing and will include new members that will help coordinate the educational and research activities and collaborations in India. The India Bioinformatics team is led by:
Mohit Mazumder is a research scientist with 10 years of research & industry experience. He has a Masters in Bioinformatics from Jamia Millia Islamia and Ph.D. in computational biology & chemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is an expert in the application of Machine learning algorithms for the understanding of Biomedical & chemical data. His core expertise is in Structural biology, Computational modeling of biological systems, protein engineering and dynamics, long-range molecular dynamics simulations, implementation of AI/ML using clustering and classification algorithms, web server development and coding/compiling & molecular graphics & visualizations.
Mohit has published more than 23 international peer-reviewed research articles, 3 Book chapters and presented his work in numerous International & national conferences during his academic & industrial career. He has been instrumental in developing Bioinformatics facilities and support in School of Life Science, JNU and is the recipient of Indo-Shastri award (Govt of India), Nvidia GPU award, Fujitsu award to name a few. He has 5 years of teaching experience in JNU working as T. A and teaching Bioinformatics to M.Sc. & Ph.D. students.
Pratim Chakraborti has been working in the field of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology for more than 10 years. Starting with an academic career, where he pursued research interests and teaching bioinformatics. Besides his academic interest, he has significant experience in Software Application Development using C, PERL and R in the domain of Bioinformatics and Chemo-informatics. He holds a Ph.D. In Biophysics, Molecular Biology and Genetics with Bioinformatics as the specialization and has the knowledge and skill to comprehend and work with Biological, Biochemical, Biomedical, and Clinical Data. Accustomed with programming in Python, R and Mysql and Neo4j databases. Pratim has four publications to his credit, one of them being in Journal of Computational Chemistry with almost 100 citations.
Pratim will be working with faculty and students to develop a strong sense of the curriculum needs across Indian universities and adapt the materials Pine Biotech currently offers in the US.
Together, the India team is expanding Pine Biotech’s presence and collaborations with local academic and industry partners. As a result, we are excited to see more growth in India Bioinformatics projects.
