Oregon State University

Dr. Robert Tanguay

We are working with Dr. Tanguay on Zebrafish exposure to DmSo. Robert Tanguay is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology and the Director of the OSU/PNNL Superfund Research Center and the Sinnhuber Aquatic Research Laboratory. He received his BA in Biology from California State University-San Bernardino, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California-Riverside and postdoctoral training in developmental toxicology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 2

Penn State

Penn State, founded in 1855 as an agricultural college, admitted its first class in 1859. The Pennsylvania legislature designated Penn State as the Commonwealth’s sole land-grant institution in 1863, which eventually broadened the University’s mission to include teaching, research, and public service in many academic disciplines. Penn State has awarded more than a half-million degrees, and has been Pennsylvania’s largest source of baccalaureate degrees at least since the 1930s.1

LSU Health Sciences Center

The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans has teaching, research, and health care functions state-wide, through its six professional schools and eight Centers of Excellence, as well as the more than one hundred hospitals and other health science related institutions throughout the State, Region, Nation, and the World, with which they maintain affiliations.1

Stanford

Stanford University, located between San Francisco and San Jose in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley, is one of the world’s leading teaching and research universities. At Stanford we work with Dr. Judith Frydman of the Frydman Lab on projects involving proteomics and virology.

Tulane University

Tulane University, founded in 1834, is one of the most highly regarded and selective independent research universities in the United States. Tulane’s schools and colleges offer degrees in the liberal arts, science and engineering, architecture, business, law, social work, medicine, and public health and tropical medicine.

Dr. Cecilia Sanchez

We are working with Dr. Sanchez on RNA-Seq projects including mouse samples for lung fibrosis. Dr. Sanchez was born in Monterey, Calif., and grew up in Colombia. She earned her degree in microbiology from the University of Los Andes in Bogota. She obtained her DEA (MSc) Biology and Health at the University of Montpellier 2 in France. She went on to earn her Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics and molecular biology from the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, working in the fields of nuclear receptors and epigenetics in the laboratory of Dr. Pierre Chambon at the IGBMC (Institut de Génétique et de Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire). She spent two years in post-doctoral training at Tulane University in the laboratory of Dr. Melanie Ehrlich, focusing on epigenetic studies in cancer. She had a second postdoctoral experience in the laboratory of Dr. Darwin Prockop, conducting studies in epigenetics and autophagy in stem cells with Dr. Pochampally. Dr. Sanchez was a recipient of the T-32 in Pulmonary diseases training grant in the laboratory of Dr. Lasky. She joined Tulane’s faculty as an Assistant Professor in May 2012. 2

UCSF Andino Lab

At the University of California San Francisco we are working with Dr. Raul Andino of the Andino Lab on Virology projects involving CirSeq.

Dr. Raul Andino

His team together with collaborators from Stanford and the Tauber Bioinformatics Research Institute have developed a new sequencing approach and computational analysis tools. Today, one of Raul’s many hats includes Aleph Therapeutics, a startup company commercializing CirSeq.
